EAMCET website registers 11 lakh page views

Despite the negative trajectory portrayed for engineering education in the State, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) continue to show interest in the Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET).

Nearly three per cent of visitors to the EAMCET website, which is yet to open for sending online applications, are from the United States of America. The EAMCET notification was issued on February 6 and it will be thrown open to students to submit applications from February 15. But over 14,000 people have already accessed the site with 95 per cent of them from India and nearly three per cent from USA. People from Australia, Germany, Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries are also showing keen interest.

Nearly 30,000 visitors accessed the EAMCET website page in January when the dates were not even announced. Those accessing the site are on an average visiting 2.3 pages and the total page views have crossed 11 lakh since January this year. Google takes the cake in leading people to the EAMCET website with nearly 95 per cent of them using the search engine to access the site. Maximum hits are from Hyderabad followed by Bangalore and Mumbai. Aspirants from Bhubaneswar, New Delhi and Kolkata have also visited the site in large numbers. "People are accessing additional information on the website and the time spent on each visit is also remarkably high," says EAMCET-2013 Convenor, N.V. Ramana Rao.
