GATE 2027 Registration Deadline Extended: Check New Dates, Other Details
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the organizing institute for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027, has officially extended the registration deadline for the examination. Aspirants who missed submitting their forms earlier now have extra time to complete their applications.
According to the updated notification on the official website (gate2027.iitm.ac.in), the regular registration deadline without a late fee has been extended to October 5, 2026.

Mandatory DigiLocker Integration:
For all Indian nationals, registering through DigiLocker is mandatory. IIT Madras has permitted candidates facing technical glitches or data mismatches to register using either a verified or an unverified DigiLocker account. However, applications with unverified accounts will undergo rigorous post-deadline scrutiny, and original identity documents will be checked strictly at the examination center.
Do Not Delete DigiLocker Account:
IIT Madras has explicitly warned applicants not to delete their DigiLocker accounts (verified or unverified) after form submission and fee payment. All future official communications regarding GATE 2027 will be mapped directly to the DigiLocker account used during registration.
New Test Paper Introduced:
The total number of test papers for GATE 2027 stands at 30, following the official addition of Robotics and Automation (RA) as a new subject test paper.
Exam Pattern:
The examination will be conducted across multiple days in February 2027 in two distinct shifts: a Forenoon Session (9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and an Afternoon Session (2:30 PM to 5:30 PM).

Step 1: Visit the official GATE 2027 portal at- gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
Step 2: Click on the GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal link.
Step 3: Register using your details and authenticate your profile via DigiLocker.
Step 4: Fill out personal, academic, and examination paper details accurately.
Step 5: Upload necessary scanned photographs, signatures, and category documents as per instructions.
