Global students apply for Eamcet

Eamcet, confined to Andhra Pradesh for the past four decades, has now gone international, with several PIO/OCI students from about 20 countries submitting applications this year to appear for the test, scheduled for May 12.

The online application system introduced for the first time this year has received applications from 20 countries, including the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, the UAE, Norway, Poland, Qatar, Europe, Germany, Hong Kong, Finland, the Netherlands, Kuwait, and South Africa. There are a significant number of applications from about 20 states with in India, too.

It is the state government’s decision to allow students to appear for the Eamcet that has elicited this encouraging response from overseas students. “We have received online applications from 1,500 students from nearly 20 countries. Besides, about 5,000 students from other states in the country have submitted applications so far. The due date to submit applications without late fee ends on March 30,” said Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao, convener, Eamcet. A feature of Eamcet is that there are a record number of applicants for the exam in the medical stream. Students can register for Eamcet with a late fee till May 10. Going online to catch more AP has received nearly 3,65,000 applications for Eamcet so far. A record number of 87,500 students have applied for the exam in the medical stream. Around 1,500 students from nearly 20 countries have applied for Eamcet apart from 5,000 stu dents from other states in India.
