E-Textbook Portal launched for Haryana School Students: HBSE

Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has launched e-textbook portal from which the students can download the school text books. The e-textbook portal was launched by Hon.Chief Minister Manohar Ll Khattar.

The Chief Minister said that as of now 26 textbooks of Classes 9 to 12 have been uploaded on the portal which can be easily converted into audio files. Out of 26 textbooks which are uploaded 11 books are of Class IX, 9 books are of Class X, and 3 books each of Classes XI & XII. He added that this initiative was an important step towards realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of Digital India. He added that the Board has also been at the forefront in implementing an e-locker facility.

He also said that students find it cumbersome to carry dozens of textbooks to schools. On the other hand, the digital textbooks could be taken on a small laptop or e-reader and clear notes can be made from those. The portal also allows students to highlight certain portions of the e-textbooks making it easier for students to study.

Advantages of E-Textbook

1) There is no need to search any specific paragraph or index pages

2) Notes of specific words or paragraphs of maximum e-reader books could also be taken through this system. This would help the students to make clear notes from their digital textbooks

3) The e-textbooks could be downloaded instantly and there is no need to wait for long for their publication, delivery or distribution

4) Through the copy and paste function, the students could segregate different important parts of textbooks and utilise them.
