Posted On: 10/05/2011      Updated On:
VIJAYAWADA: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced certificate and diploma courses to encourage skill development through vocational education.

The IGNOU has also initiated a two-year associate degree programme through community colleges which have been recommended by the National Knowledge Commission.

These programmes were necessary for increasing employment chances of people and to enhance gross enrolment ratio, IGNOU regional director M. Krishnaiah said in a release here on Monday. Various government and civil society organisations in both public and private sector are associated with IGNOU in this initiative.
