JEE Main 2024: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Puducherry has been admitting candidates to its undergraduate engineering programmes based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main score. NIT Puducherry offers undergraduate engineering, postgraduate engineering degrees and PhD programmes.
Puducherry offers BTech in subjects including civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering and mechanical engineering.
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts separate counselling processes for admission to the NITs. Admission in BTech programmes at the NIT Puducherry is made on the basis of the performance in JEE for the Indian nationals. Admissions to the 50 per cent seats are made among the students of the union territory and the remaining 50 per cent seats are made on the basis of an all India ranking of the aspiring applicants.
JoSAA conducts around six rounds of counselling every year and given below are the Round 1 ranks at which NIT Puducherry admitted students to its BTech in Computer Science and Engineering programme in the past five years against its gender-neutral and female-only seats.
NIT Puducherry opening cut-off ranks for CSE admission for the open category unreserved seats for candidates from other states have risen in 2023. The cut-off in 2022 for the open category seats was 8852 but it rose to 6648 in 2023. In 2021, the NIT Puducherry’s opening cut-off for the open category other state seats was even lower. It was 10086 for the open category other state seats.
NIT Puducherry did not rank high in the Ministry of Education’s NIRF 2023 rankings. However, it was placed in the 136th rank in NIRF 2022. The institute scored 52.40 in Teaching, Learning and Resources out of 100, 10.61 in Research and Professional Practice, 52.52 in Graduation Outcomes (GO), 71.66 in Outreach and Inclusivity and 9.24 in Perception out of 100.
