JEE Main 2024: Over 12 lakh register for session I, NTA issues exam guidelines

JEE Main 2024: The JEE Main paper 2 exam will be held in the second shift today, from 3 pm. Candidates reaching beyond the gate closing time at the JEE Main exam centre will not be allowed to enter the test venue.
JEE Main 2024: The first session of the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) will begin today, January 24 with paper 2 exam. The JEE Main paper 2 comprises of the BArch (2A) and BPlanning (2B) papers. The JEE Main paper 1 exams will be held from January 27.
The JEE Main 2024 exam is being held in two phases this year, the first in January and the next in April. The result for the JEE Main session 1 exam will be declared in February and the JEE Main 2024 application for the second session will open on February 2 and close on March 2, 2024.
This time, candidates appearing for JEE Main 2024 will have to undergo frisking and biometric attendance after toilet breaks as well.
The candidates were earlier advised to register through DigiLocker/ABC ID. Those candidates who did not register through the DigiLocker / ABC ID or had chosen authentication through non-Aadhaar options will be required to report early on the JEE Main 2024 exam day. Candidates will have to reach the JEE Main 2024 exam centre at least one hour earlier to get their biometrics recorded.
JEE Main 2024: Things to carry
– Candidates will have to carry the JEE Main 2024 admit card. The JEE Main admit card 2024 link is available at jeemain.nta.ac.in
– In addition to the JEE Main 2024 admit card, candidates will also have to carry a photo identity proof in original
– One passport size photograph will also be required to be pasted on the attendance sheet. The passport size photograph should be the same as uploaded with the online JEE Main application form
JEE Main 2024 barred items
– Items including instrument or geometry, pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper, stationery, textual material, eatables and water, mobile phone, ear phone, microphone, pager, calculator, docupen, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder and metallic item or electronic gadgets, devices will not be allowed inside the JEE Main exam centre
JEE Main 2024 Session 1: NTA guidelines
– For the drawing paper of paper 2 JEE Main, however, the candidates will have to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons. The candidates are not allowed to use watercolours on the drawing sheet
– Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets and fruits (like bananas, apples, oranges) and transparent water bottles. However, they will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolates/candy/sandwiches, etc.
– Duly filled-in JEE Main admit card must be dropped in the designated drop box while leaving the JEE Main exam hall. “Failures to do so may result in a non-evaluation of your answers,” NTA said.
The exam duration for paper 1 (BE/ BTech), paper 2A (BArch) or paper 2B (BPlanning) is three hours. And for both the papers together (BArch and BPlanning), it is three hours and 30 minutes. The JEE Main paper 2 exam will be held in the second shift today, from 3 pm. The morning shift papers are set to be held between 9 am and 12 noon.
