Jumbling of questions and choices in EAMCET medical

The EAMCET authorities have decided to jumble questions and choices in the Agricultural and Medical Examination (AM test). The test would be held in the afternoon of May 22nd. This was disclosed by the officials at a meeting with the top police officials. The meeting was aimed to curb malpractice, in the wake of huge scam in PGMET that rocked the medical education in the state. "If the questions and answers are jumbled, then the degree of copying or other malpractices would be less. This move can also confuse the hi-tech gangs, as till the last minute nobody will know which set of question paper would be given to the aspirants," an official said.

Medical aspirants of EAMCET will be under the vigilant eye of the police and intelligence department both prior and during the examination, as per the decision taken at a meeting of CET officials and police wings. The meeting was held on Monday and was attended by IG-Intelligence, Additional DGP, Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary of APSCHE, Principal Secretary of Higher Education, Chairman and Conveners of EAMCET. It discussed various steps to be taken on the day of the exam and in the run up to the test to prevent malpractices. The addresses, phone numbers of test centres and details of all the 1.12 lakh aspirants of AM stream will be given to the Intelligence department.

"It was resolved in the meeting to closely scrutinise all late registrations especially the applications of those who applied with fines of Rs 5000, Rs 10,000 to find out suspicious cases. Manual frisking will be done for all the candidates at the time of the entering into the examination hall. Jammers will be set up at problematic centres and one enforcement officer for each test centre where the both the exams (Engineering and Agriculture and Medical) are scheduled will be appointed," Prof. NV Ramana Rao, Convener of EAMCET said.

Police officials will be provided with the details of old candidates i.e. 1985-2007 to verify whether they are already studying in medical colleges. Similarly, the addresses and phone numbers of those who have applied for medical entrance with late fee will also be given to them in a day or two. One invigilator for every 20 candidates, one observer for every 500 candidates and 1enforcement officer for every AM test centre will be appointed. Women police personnel will also be deputed to check girl students. "This is necessary as large number of female candidates will be appearing for the medical entrance (70 per cent). All the desks and tables in the exam halls will also be checked thoroughly a day before the exam.

Prof. Ramana Rao has informed the meeting that it has come to their notice that in some regional centers, the number candidates appearing for medical test are almost equal or more than engineering category which is rather unusual. The police officials have sought for the details of all those centers and candidates for verification. In small towns the AM Test would be conducted at only one centre, at least 2 observers will be appointed. Revenue officials along with police officials should accompany the confidential material from treasury to test centers. Candidates who have provided same mobile number at the time of registration, the details of such candidates will be provided to police officials.
