Jumbling system in Intermediate practical exams unlikely this year

With the Intermediate practical examinations just 10 days away, the government is veering round to putting off jumbling system for this year in view of pleas from college managements and people's representatives of Telangana region.Though the government is still considering the pros and cons of the representation from Private College Managements Association and Telangana Government Junior Lecturers Association, indications are available that the jumbling system will be put off for one last time this year.

The representatives of these associations had conveyed to the government that they would give it in writing to follow jumbling in practical examination from next year. They pleaded that the students in the region had lost valuable time due to agitations and ‘Sakala Janula Samme'. Though the colleges could complete the theory part in the short time available, they could not focus adequately on practicals. Under such circumstances, if students are asked to take practical examinations in other colleges under the jumbling system, it would add to their anxiety and stress, thus impacting their performance.

Final decision

The Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathi, who discussed the issue with Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Monday, said a final decision would be taken in a day or two. Sources said a GO would be issued making jumbling system compulsory for Intermediate practical examination from the next academic year, to put an end to the issue once and for all. The objective of introducing jumbling system is to bring more seriousness into practical examinations and make the colleges give equal priority for laboratory practice and improve the standard of examinations, the Minister said.There were complaints that some colleges gave marks liberally to students in practical examinations irrespective of their performance because of weightage given to Intermediate marks in determining the Eamcet rank. The jumbling system would force both college managements and students to take their practical classes and examinations seriously.
