Confusion prevailed at Karnataka Examination Authority, soon after the KCET results were announced on Thursday. Students and parents gathered at KEA complaining that the qualifying examination (class 12) marks were not considered for ranking. As a result, many students did not receive their ranking.
When The Indian Express spoke to students gathered at KEA, it was learnt the qualifying examination marks were not considered for ranking despite uploading the documents during the application process.
Some also said rankings were not allotted to students who did not manually enter their QE marks but instead uploaded the mark sheet as an attachment.
A KEA official however clarified that the QE marks would not have been considered if the candidate has entered the wrong student number during the application process. In the case of CBSE and ICSE students, the candidates are supposed to manually enter the QE marks and not attach the mark sheet as a PDF document.
“In case of state board students, the KEA will automatically take the marks from the PU board. In the case of other boards, the students need to manually upload the QE marks. If the candidate has entered the wrong student number and in other cases attached the document, the rankings will not be allotted,” said a KEA official.
Further, the KEA will also upload a fresh link for candidates to re enter the QE marks in the afternoon. Post which, the rankings will be announced in the next two days. However, the ranks are unlikely to be shuffled as a result of alloting the rankings, a KEA official said. For instance, if a candidate has secured 100th rank, a candidate who will be allowed the new rank after reuploading the documents will be given a rank of 100(A).
