Many students pass in Inter exam revaluation

HYDERABAD : An Intermediate June 10: An Intermediate student, who had got 7 marks in mathematics in the recently announced results, saw his marks climb to 44 after re-verification. Another student was given 30 marks in English by the evaluators. However, on reverification it was found that he had scored 89. Similarly, the marks of some students had gone up from 21 to 40 in civics, from 38 to 85 in commerce and from 12 to 30 in history.

Several such grave irregularities in the Intermediate answer-script evaluation have come to light. Variations of one to five marks are common during re-verification. But this time, in the case of at least 160 students, the marks variation was huge. As many as 1,800 students had secured better marks after re-verification of their papers and in several cases “failed“ students got pass marks.

The Board of Intermediate Education has decided to initiate stern action against the evaluators responsible for errors. It will issue notices to about 500 lecturers who made mistakes during evaluation and will also impose a penalty on them. Moreover, such evaluators will be barred from evaluation duties for three years.The BIE is further planning to lodge criminal cases against negligent evaluators in cases where the variation of marks was “abnormal“.
