A vacation bench of the AP High Court on Friday directed the NTR University of Health Sciences to file counter in a petition seeking stay of the counseling for admission into Master of Dental Surgeon (MDS) course for the academic year 2014-15.The bench comprising justices G. Chandraiah and MSK Jaiswal was dealing with an appeal by Srikanth Raju and six other BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgeon) students challenging a single judge order who dismissed their writ petition seeking to declare the seven questions (question numbers 4, 45, 55, 61, 62, 63 and 94 in Set-C) pointed out by them in the entrance test held on Feb 23 this year, as incorrect and directions to the authorities to award seven more marks to them and to award ranks accordingly. The counsel representing the appellant students urged the court to stay the counseling for admission into the said course till finalization of the answers to the said seven questions. The students have lost seven marks for the mistakes committed by the university. On the other hand, the counsel representing the University said that all the objections raised, including those raised by the appellant students, were sent to senior faculty members who are subject experts and the later considered all the objections and gave their report and on the basis of which final key was prepared and the results were published. The contention of the said students that there were irregularities in preparation of questions and answers given, were false and incorrect, he added. The appellants' counsel requested the court to direct the University to refer the matter again to another expert body for reviewing their opinion. While refusing to grant stay for counseling, the bench directed the university to file its counter affidavit and adjourned the case hearing to June 3.
