Medical college gets 87 pc results in MBBS first year

The students of Government Medical College (GMC), Nizamabad, came out in flying colours securing 87 per cent results in MBBS first year examination. Five students, including four girls, got distinction and 37 passed in first division. To congratulate the students, a meeting was held at the medical college on Tuesday. Speaking at the meeting, former minister and senior Congress leader P. Sudarshan Reddy said it was not an easy thing to achieve 87 per cent results in MBBS in a newly-established college, which was not even having complete infrastructure. He appreciated the students for the good results they could achieve through dedication and hard work.

Mr Sudarshan Reddy said a committee would be formed to boost development of Government Medical College in Nizamabad soon. The district collector will be the chairman, local MP, MLA and eminent persons from different fields will be members of the committee, he said. The former minister declared that he would contribute 5 lakh for accommodation for senior students of the college. He also announced 50,000 for pruchase of books to the library.

GMC principal P. Jijia Bai thanked former minister P. Sudarshan Reddy for being instrumental in the sanction and development of the medical college in Nizamabad. "We will sort out all the problems and achieve good results in future also," she said. Indian Red Cross Society secretary N. Ramchander, Dr Ravindranath Suri, vice-principal Ramadevi spoke.

The former minister congratulated students achieving distinction. A few students also spoke at the meeting. Dr S. Prakash, DCC president Taher Bin Hamdan, DCC former president G. Gangadhar, Congress leaders Nagesh Reddy, Srinivas Goud and others were present.
