Nalsar Law University question paper leak alleged

Hyderabad: There is a sudden uncertainty in the academic future of 400 students from Nalsar University of Law with the authorities unearthing leakage of question papers of the final semester examinations. While the news about the leak broke a day after the commencement of the examinations of LLB Honours on April 26, several students feel that undeserving candidates might get good scores if the university does not cancel the examinations. The semester examinations were held from April 26 to 30.

Senior faculty members of the university said that the question papers of second and fourth year LLB were leaked a day before the examination. The miscreants hacked the university website. The students, however, suspected that the question papers of all the five years of the course were leaked by the miscreants. The incident came to light on April 27, when handwritten notes containing answers to some of the questions featured in the first set of question papers were found in the university men's restrooms.

Worried students demanded cancellation of the exams. "The university authorities are sure that the leak happened. They changed the question papers once the news broke. Then why should they not cancel the examinations to ensure that the system is fair to all," said a student from the university. The students alleged that some of the faculty members were also involved in the leak. "This is for the first time such an unpleasant thing happened on our campus. Since the exam desk is password protected we fear that some faculty member or nonteaching staff could have facilitated the leak," students said. The end semester examinations would decide the final grades of students. The scores of final year students play a key role in helping them land jobs.

The students said that they had complained to vice chancellor Veer Singh about the fraud. "While the V-C paid keen attention to our complaint, there was no clear-cut answer on whether the exams will be reconducted," said a student.

The university authorities, however, said that they have constituted an enquiry committee to look into the matter. "Based on the findings of the panel we will decided whether to cancel examinations or not," said a senior administrator of the university.
