The Supreme Court on December 10 will tentatively hear the case on the normalization and tie-breaking criteria of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 exam. The Supreme Court did not take up the case listed for December 3.
The case has already faced five adjournments earlier, with hearings postponed amid multiple reasons, including the absence of key parties and representation from the central government.
The candidates who appeared in the NEET PG exam have raised concerns about the transparency of results as well as normalisation process followed by the National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The petition was first submitted on September 7.
The petitioners in the plea wanted the NBE to release the NEET PG answer key of all shifts, response sheets, raw and pre-normalised scores and normalised results.
The petitioners in the NEET PG 2024 case have raised concerns and said that the counselling process should be suspended until the concerns are addressed. The petitioners believe that the release of the NEET PG answer keys, and question papers should become a standard practice to ensure transparency.
This year, for the first time ever, NEET PG was being conducted in two shifts, instead of the usual one single-shift format. The exam was conducted on August 11 in two shifts — first from 9 am to 12.30 pm and the next from 3.30 pm to 7 pm. With the new system in place, the Board had to adopt normalisation process.
