NEET-PG begins on a Smooth Note

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduates (NEET-PG) for entry into PG medical courses began on a smooth note in the State on Friday. Around 15,000 students from the State are said to be testing their luck. The online test will be conducted over 11 days till December 6 at 51 test centres across 33 cities including Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.

The conduct of examination in the State was in a dilemma with the Government expecting a positive response from Supreme Court on exemption to State students till yesterday and students were asked to take the test as there was no intimation from the court.

Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations (NBE), apex examination body in postgraduate medical education, and Prometric, which is conducting the test, said that stringent security policies and procedures were adopted during testing to protect the integrity of NEET-PG.

A statement from Prometric said that all candidates who showed up on time with the requisite documentation on the first day of the test have successfully completed their tests.

Candidates need to produce a valid admit card with attested photo, MCI registration certificate, as well as an authorised photo ID. Candidates? digital images and fingerprints are also being captured.

?Every testing venue is physically and electronically monitored throughout the testing process, from the time candidates arrive, through the duration of the test, until they leave the venue.

A total of more than 1,000 cameras are also installed to record both audio and video during the test,? said Bipin Batra, Executive Director, NBE.

The online test will be conducted over 11 days till December 6 at 51 test centres across 33 cities
