NEET UG, JEE Preparation: List of state boards, governments that provides free coaching

Considering the number of students registering to enter into an IIT or grab a UG medical seat, several state governments and school boards offer free coaching facilities to the JEE Main and NEET UG aspirants.

Considering the highly competitive nature and sky-rocketing fee of the coaching programmes of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG), several state governments and school boards offer free coaching to engineering and medical aspirants.

While some states provide free residential coaching programmes to all categories of students, several others have been offering engineering and medical entrance exam coaching to students belonging to certain categories of students including those only from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Here’s a state-wise list of state governments providing free coaching to engineering and medical aspirants.

The Assam government provides a free mentoring programme to the JEE Main and NEET UG aspirants. However, The students will have to apply and appear for a selection test. The application process is offline and generally opens in June and the selection test is conducted in August.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) as part of the coaching programme provides free food and lodging to JEE and NEET aspirants. The application for the free coaching programme starts in August and the selection test is held in September. The selection test is set to be conducted on September 17. The coaching centres for the free non-residential programmes are located at Patna, Muzaffarpur, Chhapra, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Purnia, Bhagalpur, Munger and Gaya.

The Delhi government offers free JEE Main, JEE Advanced and NEET UG coaching to engineering and medical aspirants. This free coaching is part of the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana initiative under the SC and ST welfare scheme. The application dates and other details relating to the free coaching programme are announced by the Delhi government’s department of the welfare for SCs, STs and OBCs. The free coaching to the IIT JEE and AIIMS medical aspirants is provided only to government school students.

The Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TTWREIS) in partnership with the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) offers free IIT JEE and NEET coaching to aspirants under the SC and ST categories. The coaching centre is located only in Hyderabad and the students are selected on the basis of TS EAMCET marks.

The Uttar Pradesh government under the Abhyudaya Scheme has been offering free guidance to the IIT JEE Main and NEET UG aspirants. The students for the free coaching centres are selected on the basis of an entrance test held for the purpose. The registration for the UP state free engineering and medical entrance test generally begins in March.

West Bengal government provides free NEET and JEE Main coaching only to the students belonging to ST and SC communities. The application for the free coaching program begins in March-April and is provided by the Department of Backward Class Welfare and Tribal Development, West Bengal government.
