The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar’s (NIT- S) ranking in the engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) saw an increase this year. The NIT is now ranked at 79 with a TLR of 62.60.
Last year, the ranking of NIT Srinagar dropped to 82, down from 66 in 2022. On August 12, the Education Minister released the latest NIRF 2024 rankings in which the rank of the Institute under the engineering category has been increased from the 2023 rankings.
The institute, however, could not make its mark in any other NIRF 2024 categories including architecture, overall, research, or innovation.
NIT Srinagar also did not achieve a position in the QS World University Rankings, however, it did fall within the 1201–1500 band in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024. Here’s a look at the Institute’s NIRF rankings
NIT Srinagar: NIRF Rankings
While the rank may have decreased in 2023, its score witnessed a slight increase from the one obtained in 2022 in the engineering category. In 2023, it scored 45.70 but 45.52 in 2022.
With its establishment in 1960, NIT Srinagar has 12 departments and offers 8 courses in engineering disciplines for undergraduates – chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, and metallurgical and materials engineering.
For postgraduation, students can enroll in 11 MTech programmes, along with MSc in physics and chemistry, MTIEM, and MBA. Furthermore, the institute provides PhD degrees in all engineering courses, along with physics, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, and management.
