Nominal changes in ECET syllabus

Hyderabad: There will be nominal changes in the syllabus for the Telangana Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET) 2015
Addressing news persons here on Monday, ECET convener, Prof Yadaiah informed that a few topics would be added in the examination. However, the pattern of examination would remain the same. ?Nominal changes have been approved by the CET Committee and syllabus will be made available on the website soon,? he said.

Notification for the test will be released on February 28 and online registration will begin from March 6. The examination will be held on May 21 from 10 am to 1 pm and results will be declared on May 31.

This year, about 20,000 to 25,000 students are expected to take the examination. Currently, there are 33,991 seats available in 281 colleges in the State, said Telangana State Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy. The last date to submit online application without fine is April 15 and with a late fee of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 is April 25 and May 2 respectively. Candidates can also apply in tatkal scheme with a fee of Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 till May 9 and May 15 respectively. Students can apply by paying Rs 300.

Candidates would be given a chance to make modifications to already filled-in form between April 20 and 25. Students can download their hall tickets between May 15 and 19. In the wake of formation of the new State of Telangana, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad has been entrusted to hold the examination by Telangana government.

Earlier for three consecutive years JNTU-Kakinada conducted the examination for 23 districts in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. This year, JNTU-H has increased the number of test centres to eight against four last year. Two in Hyderabad, one each in Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad, Nalgonda, Mahaboobnagar and Warangal are being arranged.?Depending on the number of applicants from Adilabad district, we will think whether to have a test center or not,? Papi Reddy informed. Reddy said Andhra Pradesh students would be given admissions as per Article 371 (D). ?AP students will be given admissions in the 15 per cent open quota,? Reddy added.
