Old syllabus papers for failed candidates only: Board of Intermediate Education (BIE)

HYDERABAD: With the confusion over the new syllabus and old syllabus papers in Intermediate examinations affecting some students, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has clarified that old syllabus papers are for students who have failed earlier and taking the test again while the new syllabus papers are meant for students who are writing the exam for the first time.

The BIE Secretary G. Balaramaiah said that students need to carefully look at the question paper before attempting the questions. This year old and new syllabus papers will be given for English paper-I, Civics paper-II, History paper-II, Economics paper-II, Commerce paper-II, Sociology paper-II, Public Administration paper-II, Logic paper-II, Geography paper-II and Geology paper-II. So the invigilators and students have to be careful with these papers.

Mr. Balaramaiah said the Regional Inspection Officers have also been directed to instruct the Superintendents to be very careful during these papers.

He said Chief Superintendents have been personally asked to hand over the papers in such cases and disciplinary action will be taken against them if wrong papers were given to students.

Meanwhile, the second language paper-II conducted on Tuesday was a smooth affair. Among the 1.3 lakh students registered for the exam 31,117 remained absent. The BIE Secretary said a section of media reported leakage of the paper in Ananthagiri centre of Vishakapatnam district. However, after verification it was found that no such incident took place. There were reports that some students in Rohith Junior College, S.R. Nagar were allowed to write the test beyond the stipulated time. It was later verified that some visually-challenged students were writing the test and they were allowed 30 minutes additional time as per rules.
