Plenty of opportunities in animation

Experts from animation industry alert students and youngsters that animation is a serious profession and there are plenty of opportunities for persons with right skills.

“Most students, who fail to succeed in conventional courses, opt for animation as a better alternative. But animation is equally challenging and like other professions, there is dearth of quality animators in the industry,” said G. Ravi Shanker, Managing Director of GMD Trial Private Limited, while addressing at a seminar on “Career in opportunities in animation and visual effects” here on Sunday.

Animation was not just confined to entertainment. It was now playing crucial role even in medical fields. Presently, there are plenty of opportunities for digital painters, layout designers, etc. in the industry, he added.

Organised by Globaltree Educational Services Private Limited, Ameerpet, the event saw participation of students, academicians and parents. Representatives of Lifeway College from New Zealand briefed students about the courses offered in their college.

Experienced faculty

Lifeway College Principal, Craig Hansen, said the college provides best of the technology, besides expert faculty members to educate the students. “One of our teachers was part of the animation team that worked for Hollywood movie ‘Avatar'. We have tie ups with international companies like Disney, Oktobor, etc. and provide placements as well,” claimed Mr. Craig.

Founded in 1986, the college offers three-year bachelor's programme in digital media, diploma programmes in advanced 3D animation, information technology and business administration courses.

Curriculum

3D animation course curriculum includes matte painting, compositing and special effects, rigging, lighting, texturing and rendering etc. Students with 10+2 qualification and IELTS score of 5.5 or 6 are eligible for admissions.

“We provide free assistance to students seeking admissions, visa guidance, course guidance, pre-departure preparations, etc.” said Srikar Alalpati, Managing Director of Globaltree Educational Services Private Limited.
