Poor Response So Far to Edcet-2014 Notification

The EdCET-2014 has evoked poor response from candidates seeking admission to B.Ed. courses this year and only 32,760 applications have been submitted till date as against 1.50 lakh applications received for the entrance examination held last year.

Online submission of applications began on March 8 and the last date is April 24. The last date with a late fee of Rs 500 is April 30. Students can pay the application, registration and processing fee of Rs 150 at APOnline, e-Seva or Mee-Seva centers or through payment gateway, or by credit or debit cards.

Mention of the candidate's cell phone number and email-ID in the application form has been made mandatory. Students appearing for degree final-year examinations and those awaiting results can also apply.

Urdu-medium candidates have to opt for Hyderabad or Kurnool as examination centre. User guide is available on www.apedcet.org. Further details can be had over phone 0891-2579797, 8332948791 and 7671022096.

There are 618 B.Ed. colleges in the state with 50,050 seats in convener's quota and 16,680 in management quota. Andhra University will conduct the entrance test for teacher course on June 2 in 42 cities and towns in the state.
