Record 14 lakh candidates register for JEE

Posted On: 05/01/2013      Updated On:
A tough test awaits National Institute of Technology (NIT) and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) aspirants this year what with a record 14 lakh candidates registering for the Joint Engineering Entrance (JEE) Main to be conducted on April 7 in the offline mode and from April 8 to 30 in the online mode.

Compared to last year the number of aspirants has gone up by 2.8 lakh this year though the trend observed since 2008 indicated that the increase was around 20,000 every year. Last year 11.2 lakh candidates registered for the exam. One reason for the increase is that even the IIT aspirants have to compulsorily appear for JEE (Main) for getting eligibility.
