Revaluation result delay hits students

HYDERABAD : About 16,000 students, who applied for recounting and reverification of their answer scripts of the Intermediate public exams, are in trouble. The Board of Intermediate Education has not yet released their results and since the advanced supplementary exams are scheduled to begin from Friday these students don't know whether they should sit for the exams or not.

About 36,000 students applied for recounting and reverification this year but the board has been able to clear only 20,000 applications till now.

Though the board claims to have sent SMSes to the 20,000 students whose applications have been cleared, several students say they have received no such SMS. Students who have applied for recounting and reverification of their answer scripts of the Intermediate public exams, are in trouble as their results have not yet come out and their supplementaries start from Friday.

The intimation should have come via the Board's website, say students, as many of them do not have a cellphone. Under the reverification process, the Board supplies a photocopy of the reverified answer sheet after collecting `600 per subject, and since sending photocopies through the post takes time, the board decided on the SMS route.

Mr G. Balaramaiah, the secretary of Board of Intermediate Education, advises students to appear for the supplementary exams without waiting for the results of the reverification.

“We have sent SMSes to nearly 25,000 students till now informing them about the revised marks after reverification. They were sent to all the students who gave their mobile phone numbers,“ Mr Balaramaiah said. Mr Balaramaiah assured students that the “best of two scores“ will be considered for passed students who opted for improvement in the supplementary exams and the failed students will have to go with the fresh score.
