Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is in again in the headlines after acquiring the third position in NIRF India Ranking 2017 as one of its visiting professor Dr. Manas K Mandal has been awarded with prestigious DRDO Award. Dr. Mandal has recently joined IIT Kharagpur as a Distinguished Visiting Faculty. Dr. Mandal has also worked as a scientist at DRDO which recently awarded his dedication and hard work with the prestigious Technology Leadership Award.
The award is going to be presented in the presence of Minister of State for Defence Dr Subhash Bhamre, and DRDO chairman and IIT Kharagpur alumnus Dr S Christopher. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley gave away the prestigious award to Dr Mandal on March 24. Further, before joining IIT, Mandal has worked with top notch organizations.
In 2004, making an excellent contribution to military psychology for the Indian Armed Forces, Dr. Mandal worked as a distinguished scientist and Director General (Life Sciences) at the DRDO. Moreover, he is currently working with the Rekhi Centre for Science of Happiness as an advisor.
He said that motivation training is a scientific process it shall be imparted by experts in the field. The training is given imperceptibly with reason first, emotion later and not through pep talk, and with learning to tolerate frustration and having the ability to bounce back. Motivation training without learning how to bounce back has a temporary relevance.
