State bifurcation fails to mar Intermediate results

Contrary to expectations that the pass percentage in the Intermediate exams would come down this year due to severe disruption to academic activities on account of the bifurcation issue, especially in the Seemandhra regions, the pass percentage increased by 1 per cent over last year.

The results were announced on Monday. Inter second-year results are likely to be announced on May 3rd. The pass percentage this year is 55.84. It was 54.60 in 2013 and 53.75 in 2012. Out of 8, 68,744 students registered for the exams, 4, 85,069 have passed this year. Girls have outperformed the boys by securing a pass percentage of 61 against 51 by the boys.

Krishna district in Seemandhra topped the state with 74 per cent results while Adilabad in Telangana remained at the bottom with just 38 per cent results.

Eight out of 10 districts in Telangana secured less than the state average of 56 per cent results. Only Ranga Reddy with 68 per cent, and Hyderabad with 57 per cent results, managed to secure pass percentage above the state average.

On the other hand, seven out of 13 districts in the Seemandhra region secured more than the state average. Anantapur, however, secured a low pass percentage of 49 in the Seemandhra region.

Board of Intermediate Education Secretary Ramasankar Naik said that the advanced supplementary exams will be held from May 25th and the due to pay exam fee is May 6th.
