State students excel in VITEEE

Six of 10 ranks bagged by students from Andhra Pradesh
HYDERABAD: Students from Andhra Pradesh bagged six out of the top ten ranks in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE), results for which were announced on Thursday by VIT Chancellor Dr. G. Viswanathan.

K. Harsha Vardhan of Sri Chaitanya junior college in Vijayawada scored the top rank this year also.

Rankers

Last year too, a student from Andhra Praedsh topped the rank.

The second and third ranks were bagged by B. Sai Kiran (Narayana Junior College, Hyderabad) and M. Ashok Vardhan (BIIT Junior College, Guntur).

The other rank holders are: Nikhil Gupta of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Bhopal (4th rank), I. Prudhvi Tej of sri Chaitanya, Vijayawada (5th rank), Ankit Patel of Kendriya Vidyalaya, New Delhi (6th rank), Rohan Sandeep Prinja of Jog Junior College, Pune (7th rank), M. Dheeraj Chakravarthi of Sri Chaitanya, Vijayawada (8th rank), P. Preetham Sai Srinivas of Sri Chaitanya, Vijayawada (9th rank) and Ayush Kanodia of Don Bosco School, Kolkata (10th rank).

A university press release said Rohan Jaishankar from Chennai secured the 52nd rank and he is first student from Tamil Nadu to secure the top slot.

The results are being hosted on ‘www.vit.ac.in'

Counselling for the top 16,000 ranks will take place between June 1 and 6 at the VIT campus. More number of students (2662) from Andhra Pradesh, 2448 from UP, 1220 belonging to Bihar will sit for counselling and only 543 from Tamil Nadu will take up the counselling.

VITEEE for admission to B.Tech degree programmes took place on April 16 in 102 cities across India and in Dubai, Riyadh and Singapore with over 1,66,493 registered and 1,60,324 taking up the examination.
