Sultan-Ul-Uloom colleges in trouble

The fate of nearly 1,400 students pursuing engineering, pharmacy MBA and MCA courses in four colleges run by the Sul tan-Ul-Uloom Educationa Society in Hyderabad hangs in balance with the AICTE issuing a statement that i had not granted any extension of approval letter fo the academic year 2010-11 due to pending court cases.
The society has been involved in a land dispute with the Nizam's family members, who are claiming ownership on the 24-acre SUES campus located on Road No. 3 Banjara Hills.

The statement issued on May 20, 2011, and signed by Dr R.K. Gangal, the director and regional officer, All India Council for Technical Education, Hyderabad, states that the AICTE has not granted extension of approval to Muffakham Jah College of Engineering, Sultan-UlUlloom College of Pharmacy, Sultan-Ul-Uloom College of MCA and Ghulam Ahmad College of Management due to pending court cases.

As per AICTE norms, an institution should own the premises it functions from to secure an approval for its technical courses.

However, the Osmania University incharge vicechancellor, Prof. D.N.

Reddy, said that they will take a decision on disaffiliating these colleges only after they receive the letter from the AICTE.
