Techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur in January

A students initiative – Kshitij-2012 is the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur, which will be held in January at which students from all over the country have been invited to display their skills on a massive national platform.

The ninth edition of Kshitij will be held from January 27 to 30, Kshitij - 2012 organising team member Ashwin Prashant in a release here has asked all undergraduate students from Andhra Pradesh to make use of the platform if they wished to prove their mettle.

Events with this name began way back in 2004 with an aim of promoting technology and entrepreneurship, in India and in 8 years it had grown to become the Asia's largest techno-management fest in terms of participation and prize money.

The details of the festival can be had from official website of Kshitij, www.ktj.in, which is the most visited student-run website in India. Last year more than 8 million hits were registered.

During its journey, the participation had increased exponentially from 500 to 50,000. The prize money in Kshitij 2011 was Rs.60 lakh.

Mr. Prashant said backbone of the fest was its events, which provide deserving students across the country a stage to exhibit their scientific acumen and managerial capacity.

Events not only test the scientific dexterity of the students, but also provide internationally recognised certifications from institutions such as ASME, ASHRAE, IMechE, ACM and IEEE. These events were associated with noted Fortune 500 companies such as Google,

Microsoft, Nokia, Barclays Capital, IBM, Reliance and Intel.

Events such as Overnite , sponsored by the Microsoft receives maximum foreign participation, BPlan which has an incubation prize money of Rs.30 lakh; and Laws of Motion which is sponsored by the Boeing are the major highlights of the fest.
