Telangana says it can hold 2 EAMCET examinations

Hyderabad: The Telangana State government has officially offered to conduct the common Eamcet for both the states, but on its own terms.

The government on Wednesday said it would conduct Eamcet separately but offered the facility of a common exam to Andhra Pradesh on condition that the Telangana government, through the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), would conduct the exam for both states.

It, however, said that a representative of Andhra Pradesh would be included in the admissions committee to oversee the conduct of the test and admissions in Andhra Pradesh. JNTU Hyderabad will conduct the test. In an order issued on Wednesday, Telangana adapted the rules for the conduct of Eamcet. In the order, the Telangana government categorically stated that Eamcet would be conducted by TSCHE and, if agreed to by the Andhra Pradesh government, for both the states. “The government of Telangana, therefore, shall conduct EAMCET, 2015 and offer this facility of common test to Andhra Pradesh state also,” Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma stated in the order.

However, an Andhra Pradesh government official will also serve on the admissions committee to oversee the test and admissions in Andhra Pradesh and also for admissions in Telangana under the 15 per cent open quota. “A Representative of Andhra Pradesh shall be included as a Member in the Admissions Committee under the chairman nominated by the Government of Telangana for the conduct of Eamcet-2015 in the territory of Andhra Pradesh,” the government order said.
