Telugu translations in General Studies paper

Hyderabad: In a last-minute change, the Public Service Commission has decided to provide Telugu translations of questions in the General Studies paper for the first exam on Sunday, for the recruitment to 931 Assistant Executive Engineers. Only civil engineers are eligible for the exam that will be held in 99 centres in Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam. The TSPSC has informed the AP Administrative Tribunal that it will give candidates the option of appearing in Telugu medium for the General Studies paper in all the ensuing tests. The exam will have two papers, General Studies and Civil Engineering, and the TSPSC announced that the General Studies paper could be answered in English or Telugu, but the second paper will have to be answered only in English. The TSPSC stated that the English version would be considered as “the authentic version for valuation purposes.” However, sources in the TSPSC said that the commission would not own up to any responsibility in case of translation errors creeping into the Telugu version of questions.
