Tough physics questions stump JEE examiness

Many examinees students coming out of the examination centres after appearing in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains, conducted by Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE), were heard debating that the portion on physics was tough. The questions were tricky. This made the question paper lengthy. The questions on mathematics and chemistry were average. Some were happy with their performance. Many others said that the questions based on physics were quite tough.

Left hand thumb impression of the students was taken to check impersonation and cross-check the identity of the examinees. The 12th passed students were asked to produce admit card of the examination.

Around 27,000 students appeared at 40 the centres in the city. Parents and guardians of the examinees were also seen.

In the first session, mathematics part I, Aptitude Test Part-II and Drawing Test Part-III were held. A large number of students had come to Kanpur from Lucknow, Allahabad, Sitapur, Etawah, Barabanki, Unnao and other neighbouring districts.

The JEE was objective in nature. The examinees had to jot down the answers in the Optical Response Sheets that were provided to them.

An examinee informed that mathematics and chemistry questions were easy but physics questions were tough. There were a total of 90 questions. Minus marking made the examination tough. Thumb impression was taken for verification in the classroom.

Shubham, an examinee from a neighbouring city, appearing at Soney Lal Patel School, termed physics questions to be tough and lengthy.

An examinee from Kannauj termed the question paper to be lengthy. "I was asked to give my thumb impression. Also I had to submit the photocopy of the admit card of class 12 exams," she said.

An examinee at Swaraj India public school said that chemistry was easy and mathematics and physics questions were tough.

A resident of Deoria said that the examination was exhaustive. He was hopeful of better result.

Meanwhile, a total of 1.5 lakh examinees will be given an opportunity to appear in JEE Advanced. Those figuring in the merit list, will further be given an opportunity to seek admission in IITs. There are a total of 10,000 seats in the IITs.
