UGC NET December 2026 Registration Deadline Extended to October 31

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the online registration deadline for the UGC NET December 2026 examination. Candidates who are yet to submit their application forms for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor eligibility exam can now complete the process on the official portal up to October 31, 2026.

The deadline extension comes as a relief to thousands of aspiring candidates requesting additional time due to portal server traffic and payment confirmation delays during the final hours of the original schedule.

Candidates preparing for the exam should note the revised timeline for registration, fee payment, and correction windows:

Steps to Apply for UGC NET December 2026

Candidates can follow these instructions to fill out the application form before the extended deadline:

  1. Visit Official Website: Go to the official NTA UGC NET portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

  2. New Registration: Click on the link for "UGC NET December 2026 Application Form" and select "New Registration".

  3. Fill Required Information: Enter personal details, contact information, academic qualifications, and select the desired exam center choices.

  4. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of the passport-sized photograph, signature, and category/qualification certificates as per NTA formatting specifications.

  5. Pay Application Fee: Pay the registration fee using Net Banking, Debit/Credit Card, or UPI.

  6. Submit & Print: Download the confirmation page and print a copy for future reference.

  • Scanned photograph (10 kb to 200 kb in JPG/JPEG format)

  • Scanned signature (4 kb to 30 kb in JPG/JPEG format)

  • Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, or PAN Card)

  • Class 10/12, Graduation, and Post-Graduation mark sheets/certificates

  • Category certificate (EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD), if applicable
