Universities campaign to encourage talented Indian students to study in UK

To encourage talented Indian students to study in UK, the universities of UK has launched a new film which aims to create awareness about the process of applying for higher studies in UK's leading universities. This film has been created in collaboration between UK universities, the British Council in Delhi and the home office for students.

The film features two Indian students - Arshi Aggarwal and Angesh Anupam - who are applying for student visa for higher studies in UK. The film shows the student's aspirations to study in UK and parent's apprehensions for their children's well being in a foreign country. It gives vital information about studying and living in UK.

According to a press statement, the film is beneficial for both Indian students and parents to understand the procedure of visa application to study at the best universities of UK. The film will be made available to Indian students and their families via YouTube and through links from UK university websites, as well as from those of partner organizations. At present, both the Indian students are successfully pursuing their studies in the UK.

Speaking about this new initiative, Nicola Dandridge, chief executive of universities UK, said: "This is a great way of showing, to the many students around the world who want to study in the UK, how the process works and how it can become a reality. Prospective international students and their parents hear a lot of myths about the application process and the UK's student visa system. Through these real life examples, they get a first-hand account of how the process actually works."

She further added, "UK universities remain extremely attractive to international students, so it is vital that we provide a warm welcome and ensure that visa and immigration rules are properly understood. International students make an extremely valuable contribution to the UK, both academically and financially."

Made by Indian filmmaker Ravi Lekhi, the film was directed by Nicola Carslaw, an experienced BBC journalist, and commissioned by The University of Sheffield.
