My college journey at NIT Durgapur has been a transformative phase of my life, filled with learning, challenges, and personal growth. Coming in as a student with curiosity and ambition, I quickly realized that college is not just about academics but about discovering yourself through experiences, people, and opportunities. The biggest highlight has been the exposure — interacting with talented peers from diverse backgrounds, working on technical projects, and participating in college fests and organizational activities. Being involved in technical work, especially hands-on projects and collaborative learning, helped me bridge the gap between theory and practical application. Hostel life, particularly the late-night discussions, group studies, and shared struggles before exams, created memories and friendships that I will always value. However, the journey was not without challenges. Academic pressure, tight deadlines, and balancing coursework with extracurricular commitments were sometimes overwhelming. At times, resources or guidance for certain practical skills required extra self-initiative. These lows, though difficult, taught me time management, resilience, and self-discipline. Pros of studying here include strong peer learning, good technical exposure, vibrant campus culture, and opportunities to grow beyond academics. On the downside, students must often take initiative themselves to fully utilize available opportunities — success here depends largely on how proactive you are. My advice to aspirants is simple: don’t limit yourself to just grades. Explore projects, join communities, build networks, and develop practical skills early. Manage your time wisely, stay consistent, and don’t hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. College is what you make of it — the more you engage, the more rewarding the experience becomes.
