Recommends this college
My overall experience at Saveetha Engineering College as a B.Tech AI&DS student has been a mix of great academic freedom and strict hostel rules. The absolute best part is the Flexi-Learning system, which lets me customize my own timetable. This gives me a lot of free time to focus on personal skills, video editing, and freelance work. Plus, studying under the 7.5% government quota means my entire course is completely free, which is a huge relief. The placement cell is also very active and brings in great opportunities. However, there are some downsides. The campus gets heavily crowded, and the infrastructure is inconsistent—the labs and lower floors are good (they recently did some patchwork), but the 5th-floor classrooms really need improvement. The hostel is also quite strict now with the new Face ID system, early curfew timings (8:30 PM for boys), and average mess food. But honestly, despite the strict rules, the freedom in academics and making everyday memories with friends make the whole college life completely worth it.

Campus Facilities: The campus at Saveetha Engineering College is quite large but gets heavily crowded during peak hours. The academic blocks are multi-story, and I've recently noticed active maintenance and patchwork happening on the ground floor and steps. The classrooms up to the 4th floor are very decent, with some having ACs and smart boards. However, the 5th-floor classrooms are in bad condition and need immediate improvement. When it comes to academics, the facilities are excellent for my AI&DS course. We have a good central library and high-speed campus Wi-Fi. The computer labs are definitely my favorite part—they are well-equipped and perfectly support our unique Flexi-Learning system. Having access to these advanced labs makes it very easy to practice coding, run AI models, and work on my own personal projects or freelance tasks during my free hours.
Campus Life: Campus life at Saveetha Engineering College is very vibrant, though the sheer number of students means it can get heavily crowded at times. The absolute best part of my daily routine is the Flexi-Learning system, which gives me enough free time to balance academics with my own personal interests. Hostel life plays a massive role in my overall campus experience. Despite some of the strict management rules, like the new Face ID system and the early curfews, sharing a room and making everyday memories with my close friend Bala makes hostel life really enjoyable. The campus is always energetic during the start of the academic year with grand celebrations for festivals like Onam and Pongal, along with our main cultural fest, 'Celenza'. Overall, the mix of academic freedom and a solid friend circle makes the campus vibe totally worth it.
Faculty: Since our first-year curriculum includes specialized subjects like Maths for AI and Physics for Quantum Computing rather than just basic engineering math, it's great that the teachers are well-versed in these modern domains. Because of our Flexi-Learning system, we actually get the freedom to choose our own faculty and time slots, which is a huge plus. Their teaching method is a good mix of smartboard presentations and hands-on lab sessions. This makes understanding core subjects like Computer Architecture and Probability much easier. The teachers don't micromanage us; instead, they are very supportive, friendly, and always ready to clear our doubts. They genuinely encourage us to focus on practical problem-solving rather than just memorizing things for exams, which makes the learning process very smooth.
Placements: The placement cell at Saveetha Engineering College is highly active and plays a major role in getting us industry-ready. The best part is that the college provides internship opportunities right from the early years. Even now, during our second-semester leave, the college is providing mandatory internships for first and second-year students, along with a stipend of ?2,500, which gives us great early exposure. For senior students, the opportunities get even bigger, with some securing high-stipend corporate internships up to ?1 Lakh per month, and even international offers in Japan. The overall placement record is solid at around 97%, with top companies like Amazon, Google, JP Morgan, TCS, and Cognizant visiting the campus. The highest salary packages range from ?36 LPA to ?44 LPA, while the average package stands around ?5.5 LPA to ?6 LPA.
