Recommends this college
DIT is one of the top rated universities in Uttarakhand that has been offering B.Tech courses from last two decades. It has a well built infrastructure, good ventilated classrooms and clean washrooms. The college boasts of some highly qualified teachers that hail from IITs and provide intuitive learning experience to students. The entire cost for 4-year B.Tech program is approx 12-13 lacs in which around 4-5 lacs is for hostel and mess services. The ROI is good for students who are opt for CSE and IT branches since a lot of software companies and startups offer jobs during placement season. However, the placement scenario for other branches (ME,EE,ECE,CE,PE) isn't very praiseworthy. The college has invested a lot recently to ramp up its library and canteen/cafeteria, and thus offers an enriching campus life. Also, the campus is surrounded by lush Green valley and picturesque mountains that add to the beautiful ambience of the campus. I would recommend students to choose DIT if they want to opt for CSE/IT branches and if they haven't been able to clear IIT Roorkee or JB Pant.

Campus Facilities: The infrastructure is one of the strongest points of enrolling into Dit. It has well furbished and spacious classrooms and hygienic washrooms. The campus offers basic facilities of stay and eat to all the hostellers. There are separate hostels and mess areas for girls and boys. The food quality is good with variety of food options throughout the week. There is also a cafeteria that has been recently built on top of a building that offers beautiful scenic views to mussoorie hills and has good seating space. Besides this, there is a CCD in the campus too!
Campus Life: The campus life is okayish as there is very less chance available to venture out in curricular or extracurricular activities. Although, there is a tech fest and a cultural fest that gets held every year and offers opportunities for students to learn through practical application. I remember opening up my stall during the cultural fest and looking after its complete management during the period of 3 days. There is also ample opportunity during this period to participate in academic and non academic competitions and win big prizes. There are also singing and dancing competitions that are held throughout the course of the fest and one can participate in it to show off his/her skills.
Faculty: Majority of the faculty in DIT are from IITs or other prestigious institutes and have good experience in teaching. The teachers use books and other interactive methods like presentation to explain concepts to students. There are also assistant faculties, mostly with an M-Tech degree, that either assist the professors or individually take up certain courses. The industry exposure is not very good. There is an industrial trip that is conducted during the 2nd/3rd of engineering that is supposed to provide good industry exposure but instead it has become a tool for rejuvenation and fun as hardly any time is dedicated for visiting any industry.
Placements: The placement scenario is good for people from CSE and IT branches with around 90-100% people getting placed within a couple of months. However, the placement opportunities for other branches are very bleak. There are a handful of companies that visit the campus to offer core mechanical, electrical or electronic jobs. Consequently, only a very small portion of these branches gets placed and the rest of the batch either starts opting for jobs in CS and IT or starts preparing for post graduation. Some of the major recruiters that visit the campus are- Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, Secure Meters, Ashok Leyland, Capgemini etc. I was lucky enough to secure a job with Ashok Leyland at a package of 7 lacs.
