"Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences Honest Review"
Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences
Indore, Madhya Pradesh
Name: Saharsh Laud | Batch of 2023 | Rating 2.5
Course: B.E / B.Tech (Computer Science & Information Technology)
Doesn't Recommend this college
Overall I would consider Symbiosis University of Applied Sciences to be a good college but there is still a lot of scope for improvement. The infrastructure is quite lavish and is well maintained by the university. Academic curriculum is also well designed with scope of industry exposure after each year through internships. The faculties are knowledgeable in their domains. The administration needs to be a little more active and less focused on some particular branches providing equal opportunities for students from all courses in the university.

Campus Facilities: Campus facilities and infrastructure is the only thing that draws attention of students to this university. The entire campus infrastructure is quite lavish with spacious classrooms and labs. Each class has a digital projector and the labs have proper resources which are well maintained by the lab in-charge. There is ample parking space, a well maintained canteen (although quite expensive), library, a workshop for mechanical and automobile students, a large open-air amphitheatre in the middle of the campus and much more. The main attraction is the large auditorium which often hosts many cultural and non cultural events. The university is quite far from the main city so sometimes students living in hostels may face issues for basic amenities. Overall the on and offcampus facilities as well as the infrastructure is very good.
Campus Life: Campus life is quite happening in this university and events happen from time to time. There are two clubs one for coding and one for robotics in the CSE department. There are many workshops, hackathons and seminars taking place in the campus. Apart from this cultural events like dancing, singing, fashion show, drama also happen frequently in the auditorium or in the college amphitheatre. There are technical as well as cultural fests in which various celebrities are invited. Overall the campus life is quite happening and you rarely feel bored in the university as something or the other is going on continously.
Faculty: Most of the faculties are have completed either PHD or Mtech or are currently pursuing their PHD. The faculties are quite nice and have ample knowledge in their domains. However the college administration in unable to keep these faculties and more often than not a good faculty leaves the university after just 4-6 months. From the start of my B.Tech course till its completion, hardly 2 faculties were left who had been in the college for 4 years. The faculties try to give their best but are overburdened with workload and office politics which ultimately leads to that faculty leaving the college and a great loss for the students.
Placements: We do have a placement cell but it seems to be more focused on other branches' placements. The person of contact in the placement department had very less experience with CSE placements which ultimately led to very few domain companies coming to the college and just 4-5 local companies that used to come each year. Many students wanted placement in trending fields such as Machine Learning, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity etc. but there were hardly any placement opportunities in these fields and the placement cell head often used to tell the students to take whatever role they got since we are freshers. This led to around 80% of the students from our batch opting for higher studies or offcampus placements. The average package ranged between 4-7 lpa. At the end of each year there is a compulsory internship which according to me helps more than the actual placements because students can prepare themselves in their skills and also try to get PPO in the company they are working as an intern.
Salary Package: 2.5 - 4 Lakhs
Start Up Incubator: Our college does have a startup incubator although it is not very popular as not many startups have been incubated. Since it is a fairly new university it will take some time for the startup culture to boost in the university and its incubation center.
Safety Measures: Anti-Ragging Cell, Women Safety Cell
