Punjab Technical University was established by an Act of State Legislature in the year 1997 to promote technical, management and pharmaceutical education in the state of Punjab at graduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. PTU was renamed as IK Gujral Punjab Technical University in 2015 to honour former prime minister of India, Shri Late Inder Kumar Gujral. Punjab Technical University offers nearly 32 courses at the graduate level. The University is headquartered in the District of Kapurthala, Punjab, India and owns more than 20 campuses throughout the state of Punjab and 2000 learning centres across the country. IKPTU has 280 affiliated and constituent colleges, out of which 102 are engineering, 134 are management, 30 are Pharmacy colleges, 07 are architecture and 07 are Hotel Management & Catering Technology (HMCT) with 33 regional centres.
