CLAT 2017 Common Law Admission Test is a national level entrance examination created under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for students who are seeking admission in various Law universities across the nation. CLAT is an entrance exam which is conducted by 18 National Law Universities on rotational basis for admission into Under Graduate and Post Graduate programs of each university. Admission for candidates will be given on the basis of merit and preference as per eligibility and reservations of respective universities. CLAT 2017 is conducted by Chanakya National Law University.

CLAT 2017 Notification:

The notification of CLAT 2017 for admissions into Law UG and PG courses of academic year 2017-18 was released on 25th December 2016.

CLAT 2017 Online applications were available from 1st January 2017.

Last date to apply online for CLAT 2017 is 31st March 2017.

Note-1: The candidates failing to deposit the required fees by the specified date will forfeit their right to be considered for admission in CLAT – 2017 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT – 2017 Merit List.

Note-2: After the closure of CLAT 2017 office, vacancy if any, in any NLU will be filled by the respective NLUs at their own level from the CLAT 2017 list in order of merit as per the rules and regulations of the eighteen participating NLUs.

CLAT 2017 Eligibility:

Eligibility for Admission to UG Course:

1) Age: Below 20 years for general category candidates and below 22 years for SC/ST/OBC/SAP category candidates

2) Candidates must be passed or appearing in 10+2 examination with at least 45% of marks for General/OBC/SAP categories and 40% of marks for SC/ST categories.

Eligibility for Admission to PG Course:

1) No age limit.

2) Candidates must be passed or appearing in LL.B/5 year integrated LL.B (Hons.) or equivalent exam with at least 55% of marks for General/OBC/SAP categories and 50% of marks for SC/ST categories.

3) Total Questions: 200

4) Total Marks: 200

5) Negative Marking: 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer

6) Subjects: English, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Numerical Ability, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning.

Exam Pattern for PG Course:

1) Mode: Online mode

2) Duration: 2 Hours

3) Total Questions: 150

4) Total Marks: 150

5) Negative Marking: 0.25 mark is deducted for every wrong answer

6) Subjects: Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Other Law subjects.

CLAT 2017 Exam Schedule:

CLAT 2017 entrance exam is scheduled to be held on 14th May 2017 Sunday and the duration of the exam is 2 Hours i.e. from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM.

How to Register/Apply:

1) Application should be submitted through online mode only. For Online submission, visit the official website of CLAT 2017.

CLAT 2017 Registration:

1) Fill the required fields carefully as the details on this form cannot be changed once submitted.

2) Candidate will receive their User ID and password on the registered email address and registered mobile number after registering.

CLAT 2017 Application Form:

1) Login to fill the application form using the user id and password.

2) Fill the application form with personal and academic details.

3)  Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature along with other required documents like caste certificate or SAP certificate etc.

4) Fill the preference order for all 18 NLUs.

4) Once all the required fields are filled with correct and authentic information, submit the application form.

5) Once candidate submit the application successfully, he/she will receive a confirmation email.

6) Candidates are advised to take a printout of the application for future reference.

CLAT 2017 Syllabus:

CLAT 2017 syllabus is comprised of subjects like

Subjects for Admission to UG Course:

a) English,

b) General Knowledge and Current Affairs,

c) Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability),

d) Legal Aptitude,

CLAT 2017 Admit Cards:

Admit cards will be available from 20th April 2017 Thursday. Candidates have to download their admit cards using their login id and password from CLAT official website.

CLAT 2017 Results & Rank Card:

The CLAT 2017 results will release on 29th May 2017 through official portal. Score/Rank card will be available after the release of results. Candidates can check and download the results and rank card from CLAT official website. Rank card will NOT be sent in post or mail to candidate.

CLAT 2017 Counselling:

1) Counselling of CLAT 2017 starts from 5th June 2017 on the basis of merit-cum-preference.

2) Candidate must deposit counselling fee Rs 50,000 /- with CLAT 2017 Office.

2) The counselling fee is adjustable i.e. Rs 50,000 /- paid with CLAT 2017 Office will be transferred to respective participating NLUs where the candidate has finally taken admission.

3) If candidate fails to deposit counselling fee before prescribed date, his/her name will be dropped from the merit list.

4) Candidate can withdraw from admission process within give time and date, but a nominal fee of Rs 10,000 /- will be deducted from deposited counselling fee.

5) Candidates who fail to report at the allotted NLU after the publication of CLAT merit list and fail to complete the admission formalities as per CLAT2017 calendar will automatically lose their claim for admission and their entire amount of the counselling fee of Rs. 50,000 /- will be forfeited.

For UG Course:

(i) Higher marks in the section of legal aptitude in CLAT 2017 exam.

(ii) Higher age.

(iii) Computerised draw of lots.

For PG Course:

CLAT 2017 General Instructions:

1) No changes are entertained once registration process is done.

2) Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by NLUs.

3) Candidates must have a valid and unique email account and mobile number throughout the selection process.

4) At the time of CLAT Application registration SC / ST / OBC / SAP certificate(s) must be uploaded.

5) Registration of Candidate will get cancelled if failed to upload caste/class certificate.

6) Candidates must carry original ID proof and admit cards.

7) Electronic gadgets, written/blank paper/books, calculators etc are not allowed.
