KSET 2026 EXAM PATTERN

The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across Karnataka. The exam pattern is designed to test both general teaching aptitude and subject-specific knowledge.

The KSET 2026 exam comprises two papers conducted in a single session:

  1. Paper IGeneral Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude
    • Purpose: To assess teaching and research abilities, reasoning, comprehension, and general awareness.
    • Total Questions: 50 (all compulsory)
    • Total Marks: 100
    • Duration: 1 hour
  2. Paper IISubject-Specific Paper
    • Purpose: To test in-depth knowledge of the subject chosen by the candidate.
    • Total Questions: 100 (all compulsory)
    • Total Marks: 200
    • Duration: 2 hours

Marking Scheme

  • Each question carries 2 marks.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • All questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Total Duration

The combined duration of both papers is 3 hours, usually conducted back-to-back without any major break.

Mode of Examination

  • The exam is conducted in offline mode (pen and paper-based).
  • Candidates mark answers on an OMR sheet using a black or blue ballpoint pen.
