Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games: 24 CU Students Selected to Represent India at the 2025 World University Games in Germany!

Renowned as India's No.1 Private University, Chandigarh University is proud to announce that 24 of our brilliant students have been selected to represent India at the World University Games 2025 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. Chandigarh University students — Sanjay Kumar, Rahul, Sawan, Vanshika Ghanghas, Shiksha, Priya, Tanya Choudhary, and Tanushree are set to represent India in the Athletics category. 

Additionally, Sakshi Dubey, Rahul, Lokesh, Avneet Kaur, and Yash Ghangas are set to bring glory in Volleyball, Fencing, Archery, and Judo, respectively. In Rowing, Harvinder Singh Cheema, Ankit, Vishal, Sourabh, Rajat Kumar, and Rohit Bedwal are set to bring home medals. In addition, Divyansh Srivastav and Ananya Chande will go the extra mile to win medals for India in table tennis. Meanwhile, Harsh Saroha, Aditya Dubey, and Anurag R. Singh are expected to bring laurels in swimming.

Overview of the 2025 FISU World University Games: A Global Multi-Sport Event for University Athletes

Previously known as the Universiade, the World University Games is an international multi-sport event for university athletes organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). In simple words, the World University Games are a platform for university athletes to compete internationally and celebrate their achievements. In addition, there is nothing wrong with saying that it is a significant sporting event held every two years, featuring a wide range of sports similar to the Olympic Games.

Furthermore, the German cities of Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen, and Berlin will be hosting the 2025 FISU World University Games Summer. From July 16 to July 27, 2025, the 2025 edition of the World University Games will welcome over 8,500 student-athletes and officials from more than 150 countries. They will compete for medals in 18 different sports categories, making it one of the largest multi-sport events in the world in 2025. 

On the contrary, the 2025 FISU World University Games Summer will feature 15 sports across various categories, including Archery, Artistic Gymnastics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Diving, Fencing, Judo, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Swimming, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Water Polo. However, the programme is complemented by the optional sports of 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, and rowing. For the first time at the FISU Summer Games, 3×3 wheelchair basketball will be included in the programme.
