I recently graduated from the Civil Engineering department at SRM University, and overall it was a good learning experience. The department provides a solid foundation in core civil engineering subjects like structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation, and environmental engineering. Most of the professors are knowledgeable and supportive, and they try to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications whenever possible. During my time there, the labs and practical sessions helped me understand how civil engineering concepts are used in real projects. We also had opportunities to learn software tools and participate in seminars, technical events, and student chapters, which added to the overall exposure. The department also encourages students to take part in internships and industry interactions, which is helpful for understanding how the construction and infrastructure industry actually works.
