Bharata Mata College (BMC), Kochi provides scholarships mainly to support academically bright students and those from financially weaker sections, including SC/ST/OBC categories.
Types of Scholarships:
National Loan Scholarships: NLS provides scholarships to Indian nationals pursuing courses after Matriculation or SSLC that lead to a first degree, requiring a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. There is an income limit of Rs. 25,000/- for undergraduate applicants, while this limit does not apply to postgraduate students. However, undergraduate students already receiving scholarships or stipends from other schemes are not eligible for this program. Application forms can be obtained from the DCE in Trivandrum with a payment of Rs. 2/-.
National Merit Scholarships: This scholarship is strictly merit-based and targets the children of serving primary and secondary school teachers. A certificate of merit and a national prize of Rs. 100/- are awarded if the income exceeds Rs. 25,000/- per annum. Scholarships are granted based on merit and availability.
Scholarship to Physically Handicapped Students: The candidates should secure at least 40% marks at the previous annual examination. The income should not exceed Rs. 24,000/- per annum.
State Scholarships: Students who have achieved a minimum of 60% in qualifying examinations and come from families with an annual income not exceeding Rs. 7,500 for undergraduate courses and Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 12,000 for postgraduate courses respectively are eligible to apply.
University Merit Scholarships: Acknowledged by the University, the Travancore Temple Entry Proclamation Memorial Scholarship is awarded solely on a merit basis for specific subjects. It is designated for SC/ST students who achieve first-class results in the SSLC examination. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have attained at least 60% marks in their qualifying examination.
State Scholarship to Muslim Nadar girl student: Income limit below Rs. 8,000/- per annum.
Mar. George Cardinal Alencherry Scholarship : The Cardinal Alenchery Scholarship is a merit-based award that offers a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 (Ten Thousand Rupees) along with a certificate. This scholarship is available to 15 students who are currently in their final year of a degree program.
