Carmel College has established a robust Career Guidance and Placement Cell dedicated to enhancing students' employability and facilitating their transition into the workforce. This cell plays a pivotal role in assessing students' skills and aligning them with industry requirements, thereby aiming for 100% placement rates even before graduation. The placement cell is led by a Head of Corporate Relations and Placements, supported by faculty coordinators from various departments, ensuring a structured approach to career development.
The college focuses on innovative strategies to attract leading companies for campus recruitment. Initiatives include placement orientation sessions for first-year students, organized in collaboration with organizations like Talrop, which aims to bridge the gap between academic training and industry expectations.
The placement cell also engages students through regular interactions and updates about job opportunities, internships, and industry trends. Despite these efforts, the placement statistics indicate that only a small percentage of students secure jobs directly through campus placements. For instance, recent data shows that out of 132 students admitted in the first year, only 11.48% were placed by the time of graduation, with a median salary of INR 2.40 LPA.
This suggests that while the college is actively working towards improving placement rates, there remains room for growth in connecting students with potential employers. In terms of specific outcomes, various departments within the college report differing levels of success in placements. For example, while some programs have achieved higher placement rates and salary packages, others have seen less favorable results. The college continues to adapt its strategies to enhance student readiness for the job market and improve overall placement performance.
As per the latest data, the highest salary offered was INR 9.4 LPA (CTC) while the average/lowest salary offered was INR 2.3 LPA (CTC).
