Dharmapuram Gnanambigai Govt. Arts College (W) was established by a committee of Philanthropists headed by Mr.Rangabhashyam IAS and Mr.T.V. Antony IAS in July 1967. Incepted with pre-university course in Municipal school building the institution evolved into one of the Government Women’s College in Nagapattinam district.

It progressed, by introducing UG and PG courses subsequently, towards the objectives of Higher Education is a service to the socio-economically backward section of the society. To ensure the quality, the defining element of Higher Education our college has been periodically by the National Assessment and Accreditation council. In the III cycle re-accreditation of our college was awarded ‘A’ Grade in the academic year 2015 – 2016.
