As a division of the GKD Charity Trust, Coimbatore, the D.J. Academy for Managerial Excellence (DJAME) was founded in 2001 by the late Dr. D. Jayavarthanavelu, past-chairman of Lakshmi Machine Works Limited (LMW), Coimbatore. DJAME is situated at Othakkalmandapam on the Coimbatore-Pollachi Highway, around 20 kilometres from Coimbatore City. The campus is perfectly suited for intellectual pursuits because it is surrounded by vegetation, has large open spaces, and is removed from the noise and bustle of the city.

The Institute provides a full-time, two-year MBA program that is accredited by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and associated with Bharathiar University in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It is also a recognized centre for pursuing Bharathi University's part-time M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs.

Library- The DJAME Library functions as a learning resources centre, meeting the intellectual needs of researchers, faculty, and students. The remarkable collection at the library includes 12,087 total volumes, 9196 total titles, 20 National Journal issues, and many more.

Residential Facility- The DJAME's residential amenities are made to make students feel comfortable. They consist of boys' and girls' hostels that are separate and furnished. Each dormitory contains 77 beds that can house 144 students in twin-sharing arrangements, equipped with a kitchenette, automatic laundry, safe drinking water heaters, and a common room with a television.

Sports & Fitness Centre- Sports participation and physical fitness are highly valued by the Institute.

The available amenities are- Table tennis, carrom, and chess facilities indoors.

Facilities are available outside for playing basketball, football, volleyball, cricket, handball, throwball, tennikoit, and frisbee. The fitness facility includes all the necessary apparatus for bodybuilding, weight loss, and developing and maintaining physical fitness.

Cafeteria- South Indian and North Indian cuisine is offered to the students during mealtimes. Large dining area that can hold up to 100 students at once
