Established under the Central Universities Act 2009, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is a Central University of India situated in the state of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Previously known as Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), it was formally opened on June 16, 1983, after being founded by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly. The renowned Satnami Saint Guru Ghasidas, who campaigned against social evils and injustice in society and championed the cause of the oppressed, is honored by the university's name.
Established in 2012, the department of Law is the newest department in the university. The department's goals are to spread information, improve teaching, and develop learning in the legal profession. By enhancing the professional abilities of those aspiring to careers in advocacy, judicial service, law enforcement, and legislative drafting, it meets the requirements of the community. The department aims to attain excellence by providing comprehensive legal education at all levels through ongoing evolution. The department offers the LLM and the B.A LLB and B.Com LLB courses as two five-year integrated programs.
It is one of Chhattisgarh's biggest and oldest universities, providing a broad range of degrees in social sciences, engineering, and management, among other subjects. In addition to offering its students a number of academic and extracurricular facilities and services, GGV maintains a selective admissions procedure based on entrance exams.

Hostel- On-campus housing for boys and girls is one of the features offered by GGU Bilaspur. On campus, there are three hostels for boys and one for girls at GGU Bilaspur. The dorms provide several amenities and a well-designed layout that meet all of the students' basic needs.
Library- There is a library on campus at GGU Bilaspur. It is filled with a variety of items, including books, periodicals, journals, and earlier research articles. The library facilities of GGU Bilaspur have computers with the most recent software. Both staff and students can use the library to obtain information.
IT Infrastructure- Since its founding in 1990, the University's Computer Center has been cutting edge and state-of-the-art. The newest hardware and software versions are installed on it. For the expansion and development of teaching, research, administration, examinations, finance, and other significant university cells, the Computer Center offers a central facility.
Auditorium- The GGC Bilaspur facilities feature a large auditorium that can accommodate up to 800 people and is used for a variety of university events. The auditorium features a beautiful, spacious hall with balcony and ground-level seating. This hall has hosted several academic and cultural events, including the university's convocations.
