D.B. Pampa College with its rural silhouette is a prestigious institution which stands on the banks of the Holy River Pampa in the panchayat of Kadapra, in the Taluk of Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district, managed by the Travancore Devaswom Board. The college was established during the tenure of the second ministry of Sri E.M.S Nampoothirippadu. It was during the term of Sri. P.K. Chandranandan as the member of T.D.B, that the board at his initiation had commenced the procedures for the inception of the college. Under the leadership of the then prominent social and political personalities like Shri P.G. Purushothaman Pillai, the then MLA, Chengannur, Mannar K K Chandrasekharan Pillai Vaidhyan, Parumala Appukuttan Aadissar, Khadi Chellappan Nair, Ramabhadran Nair, Araykkal Sadasivan Pillai, Kottaykkal Sreedharan Pillai, M. P. Raghavan Nair Mulavana, P A Azeez Kunju etc, money was collected from the laymen of the locality for the elementary functioning of the college. It was the then Board, consisting of Shri. Prakkulam Bhasi as president, Sri Harihara Subramani and Sri P.K Chandranandan as members that took the decision for the establishment of the college. The hoi polloi of Kadapra, Niranam, Pandanad, Budhanur, Mannar etc, which were part of the then Alappuzha District, whole heartedly gave all the fiscal aids for the institution. On a working capital of Rs 500/- donated by the then Pavukkara Pulayar Karayogam had begun the fund collection needed for the establishment of the college. The whole hearted support and service provided by Parumala Church, Muslim Jamayat, Mannar and Thrikkuratti Temple had helped in the proper functioning of the college. The social and cultural growth of the vicinity alongside the progression of the institution is noteworthy. The genesis of the college has resulted in the holistic development of Parumala and has witnessed an unprecedented development in Mannar too. The college has a campus caressed by the holy waters of River Pampa which makes the name of the college, ‘The Pampa College’ consequential. Pampa College is a public educational institution which still remains the only resort for higher education for the members of the ordinary families of majority of the village people.
