In 1983, Gandhinagar, India's Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India was founded. A self-governing, non-profit organization, the institute is also known as EDII Gandhinagar. IDBI Bank Ltd., IFCI Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., and the State Bank of India (SBI) are the leading financial institutions that established EDII under the aegis of the Gujarat government.
The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) have both recognized EDII Gandhinagar. It was also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institution is a member of the British Libraries, ADINET, MANLIBNET, and IIMA professional societies.
